Fire Fear

 Soft Box top right.
Reflector back lit
I liked the brick background but the fire looked much better against black. Bounced frontal lighting.

Medium Soft box front right.

Bounce umbrella from front.

Top right bare reflector.

I shot fire eating for the fear assignment because fire is something people are usually afraid of. I've come to learn threw fire dancing and fire eating that fire isn't something to fear. I never thought I would be a fire performer in my life, but here I am & I love it!!

Gimme' some COLOR!

This weeks assignment was shooting on white with a theme of black and white. I tried to focus more on the lines and shape of the body. But man'o'man did I crave some color! I played with gels towards the end of the shoot and they turned out being my personal favorite images. Overall I am please with my assignment. I feel like Im getting better each week! The only thing I had a problem with, when it came to making the background pure white, was the ground.

I enjoy the shape the model's body makes in this image. I lit the backdrop with the bounced lighting and lit the model with the ring flash.

I played around with having my model step into the bounced light and in front of it. Here is the same lighting scenario of bounced and the model was lit with a large soft box.
Bounced backdrop. Large soft box on model.

Here is an example of where the floor wasn't going pure white. Bounce backdrop. Large softbox on model.

Here I wanted more of back-lit feel without fully silhouetting. I turned down the ring flash considerably and turned up the heads bouncing onto the backdrop.

Then I started playing with color!!! This totally revived my excitement and creativity. I just put a red/magenta gel on the left bounced head and a blue one on the right. I played around with having the model close to the backdrop and further forward. This was just a reflector with a large grid on the model.

These next two shots I played with dragged shutter speeds. As I released the shutter, the ring flash would pop and I would quickly pan the camera to the left. This gave me a kind of hazy red effect. I really am happy with these images!

NEW LOGO

I am in a class called Portfolio Development. Right now we are working on our "brand." This included making a logo. Some of you may know I already have a logo I've been using for quite some time. I think it was time to refine it and really make it match my style! I'm very pleased with what I have come up with! I think it successfully matches my personality and style as a photographer. Tell me what you think!

Assignment #4

As always, this was much fun! I was a little rushed for time since I had trouble getting a time slot but I think the images still turned out well. For this assignment I wanted to do a sort of a mock up cosmetic ad! I am really happy with the outcome.

Beauty Dish front, 1 head backlight. This was alot of fun. I told her to pretend she was at a surprise party! Super fun and cheesy.

Favorite Shot! Beauty Dish front, 1 head backlight.

I like the reflection. I had two black cards on each side propped up. Beauty dish from front-top. Light under table.

These next shots are not fully retouched!
This was without the backlighting. It was nice the I think the back lighting added more to the image.

I wasnt sure how I felt about the hanging ornaments. I think I like them better in the other images.

Today I went with my sister to Kevin Murphy's "The Really Big Show." It was a hair and fashion show, with demonstration. It was really awesome! Ive never been to any show like that. My sister got offered a job with Kevin's company, if you know who he is you could imagine her excitement!
